Throwback Thursday Part 52

Since today, as Twitter has taught me, is World Book Day, this time Throwback Thursday is to the songs inspired by books. Or short stories because Kim Jonghyeon.

Enjoy^^

Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights

Tears For Fears - Ideas as Opiates. "this track was influenced by the work of Arthur Janov, an American psychotherapist who studied repressed childhood trauma and developed primal scream therapy." (info from here)

Manic Street Preachers - Motorcycle Emptiness. Inspired in part by the novel Rumble Fish. Despite being awesome, timeless and poignant, it's also incredibly depressing.

Fleetwood Mac - Rhiannon

Lucinda Williams - Something Wicked This Way Comes

Marlene Dietrich - Where Have All The Flowers Gone? Originally by The Kingston Trio.

David Bowie - 1984

The Sensational Alex Harvey Band - Dogs of War

Rob Thomas - Fire on the Mountain. Based on Dave Eggers' What is the What.

The Strangeloves - I Want Candy. Based on Candy by Terry Southern and Mason Hoffenberg

Donna Lewis - I Love You Always Forever. Inspired by H. E. Bates' Love for Lydia. Whoah, that's a true throwback to the 90's^^

Green Day - Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? Based on Catcher in the Rye.

Peggy Lee - Is That All There Is? Based on Thomas Mann's short fiction story Disillusionment

SHINee - Obsession. Written by Jonghyeon, after he read and was inspired by E.A. Poe's Black Cat.
Video is from 2010. The lyrics don't put Jjong's whispering "spero", but it's there after Minho's rap. One of the most thrilling moments in Kpop. And it's a fact.
