[Review] The Expanse Review S 1

SyFy series are either hits or misses. They can make an absolute genius-infused ones or a complete rubbish. There's nothing in between. The Expanse belongs to the former category. I have to admit, their series are the first ones I ever check out; maybe because of my penchant for science-fiction or maybe I just am a masochist.

Bookshelf Part 1

Hereby I announce a new tradition (sic!) that shall be continued through the eternity. A weekly (or bi-weekly or whimsically whenever) update on interesting (or not) books that somehow slipped through my fingers. 

Because I take exhibitionism to a new, written level.

Only for people who think fighting against a large intestine is fun.

Throwback Thursday Part 17

Today's TT is to February 2nd 1962 - when 8 of 9 planets aligned together for the first time in 400 years!! Oh-em-gee!! It means absolutely nothing except for the fact I can write this post 55 years later! This is why the songs are inspired by planets. AKA: some of my faves crammed into a horribly far-fetched category to satisfy my needs!

[Review] Apparitions

 

It is a difficult show and it helps if people could have some real knowledge about the Church's doctrines from a real source and not hearsay, own suppositions and unverified stories you can hear all the time. The main topic of these episodes is possession and the ways of dealing with that. If someone doesn't believe in possessions - they will find the show rubbish. If someone entertains an idea of a spiritual disturbance, they might find it intriguing. And even if someone is neither, well, this is a great show, with solid acting and great cinematography.

[Review] Childhood's End

The three part mini series is not exactly an adaptation. They treated the source material fairly freely, but that is not necessary a bad thing. Clarke wrote his novel in the middle of Cold War (1958), so there was a divided world - there was Communist World and Democratic World. I remember reading it around the time I read Orwell's 1984, when I was in my mid-teens. Both books are horrific depictions, painting a bleak image of humanity. But somehow, after stripping Childhood's End of any "signs of time" and leaving the bare story, it appears clear how abysmally depressing it really is.

Watched in 2016 - Z-Class Movies

Friday evening, a relaxing bath, a gallon glass of wine - all this sets up a perfect mood for watching a movie. And what is more relaxing than watching sharks eating people? Or tremors swallowing up the Eiffel Tower? You are absolutely right - not much.

My affinity for Z-class movies stems from the deep need of human psyche - to see bad guys get what they deserve and to experience a total havoc wrecked upon the face of the Earth... I mean the... ugh, anthropological value, yeah.
