"La Palma" or the tsunami of nonsense

I was wondering for a long time whether should I write about this series. In the age of instant streaming and abundance of critics, one opinion less would not change anything.
But then I realized - why not? What makes my voice less relevant than the others?

Saturday Poetry Corner 71: The Hollow Men

This is probably my most favorite poem of T.S. Eliot. It describes the post-war landscape of human psyche. It only proves that some anxieties are eternal, not confined to a certain and fixed event, but words that describe them, can hop to fit yet another time.

TV Series Opening 53: Silo (2023)

Picking up on the openings, as many new series I have watched have really craftily done, beautiful, and sometimes haunting openings.

Horizon (2024)

A short documentary about the flora and fauna (and a scandalously little of rocks) of the southern tip of Saudi Arabia, mostly the region of Arif Mountains.
I added the names of some species that appeared in the film.
At the end, I also added some links, for curious (yeah) people^^

Living With Leopards (2023)

This short documentary spanned 5 years of following one leopard family tree. I expected nothing informative from it, but somehow the Author/Narrator managed to include some info.
The screenshots below are mostly leopards, their eyes, grace and wonderful hunting technique.

Ilha Formosa Taiwan Where Mountains Meet the Sea (2008)

Some stills from this short (40-min) documentary, with no spoken language, only music.
OK, I lied, it's image-heavy. Some stills have subs with explanation what is shown. I kept some, because so little is known about this small country.
See, China, what did I do here?

Volcanoes - The Fires of Creation (2018)

This was a short documentary, with annoying narration. That's why I am weary of docus that are shown on some festivals etc. because they are so personal. And I don't care about it. Give me numbers, data, facts. I grew up with nature documentaries where sir Attenborough was giving the info on how long the flamingos' legs are. I want to learn something and it's not how the narrator felt, or pondering on flying bag as the meaning of life.
But oh well, some screenshots are nice.

Ghost of the Mountains (2017)

Few screenshots from the documentary on irbis, the snow leopard, this time from the national park deep in China plateau.

Saturday Poetry Corner 67: Les Malades

Today, a poem by Emile Verhaeren (1855–1916), a Belgian poet.

I have to admit, I adore the metrum of French verses and the English translation, although good, pales with it.

I can't believe I haven't posted this yet, but it's never too late for some good E.A. Poe.

[Movies Review] DPRK Movies, Or How Great Is Our General!

The first 10 movies I will be presenting here, were completely random, maybe except for "The Flower Girl". I just watched what generator actually shown. That's why those are movies mainly from the 80s and 90s. With the next 10, I will try to be more selective (maybe Bulgasari, who knows), however I don't promise I will watch "The Sea of Blood" once again.
OK, let's parachute into the arms of a... tractor driver.
