Introduction to Wreck-the-Fanfic Project

I have never really understood the appeal of fanfics (fan-fictions). If someone wants to write, or feels the genius inside telling her (or him but rarely) to write, what's the big deal of writing your own story? For me, fanfics are the least creative form of literature. Yes, I hear your voices, goddamnme!! the defending of the genre, the opinions that some are really good etc. Some may be, for all I care, I read only the horrible ones. But for me, being in various fandoms half of my life, fanfics are not actually Pulitzer award worthy pieces of writing. It may be because I came across nasty, incoherent and bad ones first and I'm biased? Maybe.
I don't understand what is so hard in writing YOUR own story, with names and places created by you. Inspiration from people around, motifs or even celebrities is fine, it is something natural, but writing slash fanfic with real people somehow doesn't sit well with me.
I find majority of fanfics a worthless piece of wasted space (to put the euphemism before the page break).

Frustrations

 photo 11.jpg

I don't mind idols casting in dramas, this way we can check if they can act (Eunji) or not (Yunho). But, dear PDs in the Land of Morning Cray, you DO have amazing actors yet you don't use them and if you do - in some crappy productions that even Yunho would do (I guess that will be added to my repertoire of insults from now on. Come and get me!).
But I'm filling a complaint to UN, Interpol, UNICEF and every other organization that deals with abusing human rights for not casting Choi Daehun in any drama/movie.

Little update

I'm not dead yet, today I'm really close to it, however.
February is a horrible month for K-entertainment, one of the worsts in few years. And only SHINee shining comeback is actually the beam of light (well, a horrible flowery pajama beam of light, to tell the truth).

"Double, double toil and trouble;

Manekineko wishes you all good year and invites you to cray cray world^^
... Fire burn and cauldron bubble."

A post totally made for fun and with fun (or frustrations, whatever). While I'm slowly trudging through award shows (12 parts to dl and watch), I prepared this for all of you to have fun.
There are "prediction posts" everywhere, in K-entertainment too, so to entertain ourselves, let's make predictions for year 2013.
What are your predictions? Free your mind, and the rest will follow^^

JYJ and SMEnt reach the agreement

The world is surely going to end this year. Over three years of bitter feud came to an end, although it's not actually the end of the whole issue.
Someone in SMEnt got really tired of this, I think. Finally.

K-entertainment part 4

source

Nothing major happened. I'm kind of busy, so I barely have time to bitch blog about anything. With all what is happening in real life, I adopted new attitude to everything that surrounds me: fuckit happy-go-lucky. And with that upbeat mood, I present you 4th installment of news roundup regarding our lovely kindergarden that is K-entertainment with me as the Marry Poppins from hell.

I Need Coffee (Prince) 2.5

Note to self - never make any plans that reach beyond 6 hours. On top of that I run out of coffee and if anyone needs to know something about me is the fact I drink enormous amounts of coffee without any apparent effect. Yet I'm drinking it because I like the smell and taste. Plus, when drinking at a cafe, barista can make those state-of-art pictures on foam, and you just sit there smiling at a cup like a brain-devoided idiot thinking how NOT to ruin this.
Since my day was ruined from the start and I didn't plan it, there came rain and steel-grey clouds that made this kitty very, very sleepy.
Confined to my chair that screeches worse than Alien Momma, I report on whatever goes around Kdramaland.

K-entertainment Part 1

This is something I have been planning to do for some time. A weekend round-up of whatever weird, shocking or funny happened in K-industry. I don't plan to write it with something up my nice we-know-what, but in a fluffy way. I'm not a Debbie Downer, I'm not going to dissect everything with pessimistic suction.
Anyway, first post is having Heechul as the anchor pic because he's not here *a moment of silence to commemorate million ELFs hearts that just crumbled* and because he's Heechul, love him or hate him, but he's "unique".

New Standards of Fair Trade Commission - KBS

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Is this a first step to a normalization of this insane and sick situation we have in entertainment? Let's hope so, but let's hope it won't have a backlash even worse than situation nowadays.
Also, if it wasn't for the world-shattering thing JYJ did, there would be no such talk around. Yet no one seems to voice their opinion and it looks as if only 3 men had problems with their company. And I believe it's the same situation everywhere, under every label, not only monster SMEnt.

It takes a man to kill gumiho

If they don't get "Best Couple Award" of 2012 I don't know who will. But I will forgive you.

I dare say that The Thousandth Man is one of those little gems that pass below the public attention because of not flaunting stars-studded cast, heart-wrenching revenge or well tailored suits that underline men's but... built. It's a fact, it had two idols as the main cast: Namslut Namstar and Hyomin (from T-tanic drama). And as much as I saw Namstar being a little nervous because of his first acting job, I like Hyomin and I don't care. This drama had me from the first episode. Normal characters (oh yeah, gumiho as "normal", nice standards, E.!), lots of funny situations, yet lots of bitter remarks that looked as if the writer had a beef with so called "real life".

The grim reality behind the rise of the entertainment market

We know BTS (behind the scenes) in K-entertainment are ruthless. We know what kind of treatment actors/singers have to put up with. There are no Unions there, and one may only hope there will be a day when such organization will start to defend their rights.

Sherlock Netizens

source of pic

I've written it so many times now - Korean journalism is a crap, I made few separated posts about the level of professionalism on Nate articles even. And I guess I wasn't that far from guessing the truth that no pro journalist is writing those "articles" that have the same level as Allkpop or other, well known websites.
The article below is a long read, be fairly warned, so all teen hormonal trolls who ever appear here, get lost cause it has so much letters you won't be able to make any sense out of it.
Of course all articles we should take with a grain of salt. Not all netizens strive to uncover the truth or dig deeper. Those we should praise, but mostly, they are just another herd of sheeps repeating what media say.

Fans' culture...

... according to KBS. Oh yes, we know KBS is in the middle of banning JYJ and war, so obviously they couldn't mention any sasaeng situation. According to their raport (it has eng subs, watch it before they take it down from yt) fans are one awesomely bonded family, caring about their idols, a bunch of happy rabbits prancing around and donating rice.
Screams BULLSHIT all over the place, even worse propaganda than usual Arirang videos. But watch and decide for yourself.

Hallyu future?

We've been saying this for some time now. K-entertainment needs a change, dramas need new ideas (main station dramas, somehow cable is doing just fine), Kpop needs new visuals.
I'm not saying every drama should look from now on like Game of Thrones (second season) but yes, we've been bitching about repetitiveness of those. New motifs, new plots (this is why I loved Evasive Inquiry Agency - no goddamn love-line!). Oh, and a new set of fangirls and netizens would be good too.
And if I may be viscious again - just when a band appeared that brings freshness and originality to to pop music, fans disregard their latest album as 'not MAMA-like'. Go to hell. And stay there.

Dear K-Entertainment and fangirls!

Dear K-Entertainment and fangirls!

Not so long ago, although last year may seems to be like eons ago, one individual, surnamed Park, was classified as unable to actively serve for 2 damn years in the military. Few days ago, during a slow news week, this resurfaced. And, of course, it prompted many self-proclaimed till-death-do-us-part entertainment fangirls to buy rope to hang themselves, because all they read was “military service”. That reaction was fun though to read. But there is another group of fans that complain that every celebrity that is disappearing in the boots, serves not in the active camp (they clearly forgot about their precious will-remember-foreva!!1 oppa Hyeon Bin) but in the office.

Song Jihyo's situation

Uhm, allkpop is not that reliable source of news, but anyway... We all are probably aware of Song Jihyo's recent hospitalisation and health problems. Apparently her manager opened up about horrendous environment in dramas.
Sky is blue, ice is cold... what else is new?
