Remembering Gwangju - 18.05.1980

Picture from here.

Our story starts October 16th, 1979 in two cities - Busan and Masan, where the demonstrations against the so called "Yushin Constitution" were held (1). "Yushin" was an authoritarian constitution promulgated in 1972 that gave executive and legislative powers exclusively to the President Park Cheonghee, extended the presidential term to six years an nullified the limits on re-elections. Above all, it turned the presidency into a legal dictatorship.
Now, this is not going to be a detailed post about everything that happened during those 9 days when Gwangju was nearly besieged, this is rather a reminder that something like that happened only 40 years ago and through majority of those it was buried deep under the false statement, cover-ups and outright lies.

Hellish Helix Overview

I'm going to write more about Kdrama the moment I will have some more time, don't worry. This time, Occidental shows.
Yes, I do continue The Mushiteers known as The Musketeers, for reasons unknown. I'm surprised the screenwriter actually gave out her name, because the show is such amount of crap it astounds even me, a faithful admirer of crap movies such as Mega Shark ver. Giant Octopus

Dear K-Entertainment and fangirls!

Dear K-Entertainment and fangirls!

Not so long ago, although last year may seems to be like eons ago, one individual, surnamed Park, was classified as unable to actively serve for 2 damn years in the military. Few days ago, during a slow news week, this resurfaced. And, of course, it prompted many self-proclaimed till-death-do-us-part entertainment fangirls to buy rope to hang themselves, because all they read was “military service”. That reaction was fun though to read. But there is another group of fans that complain that every celebrity that is disappearing in the boots, serves not in the active camp (they clearly forgot about their precious will-remember-foreva!!1 oppa Hyeon Bin) but in the office.

Military Chun

JYJ's Park Yu-chun received a class four physical disability rating from a medical examination at the Military Manpower Administration, which means he will undertake his conscription service as a reserve conscript, most likely working as a public service worker. Those who are given a rating of four are exempt from full military training and act as reserve conscripts, often undertaking less strenuous or administrative duties for the military.

Military revolt in Goryeo

The revolt resulted in shift in power from royal family tied closely to aristocratic families. Military officials (namely Choe) lasted for about a century and crumbled under Mongol invasion.
This is thought as the background for Mushin series, because the history layout in the first episodes may seem a little bit complicated.
