Handful of music
In the previous post about Taiwan music, I mentioned the new album of Anthony Neely and now I am after listening to it. The opinion? Sadly, the album is nothing special. If it wasn't for Neely's rich voice, I wouldn't even be bothered to listen to it. OK, I lied, I would, because I listen to a lot of albums. But it's nothing memorable, that's it.
OK, back to some more music.

Short music news
I'm not doing a proper review. I never did. Lately I've been reading some books and articles on structure, anthropology and culture of popculture (focusing on music, damn I'm rhyming) so I know I'm not a proper critic. However I really like to talk about music, about what moved me, what didn't and why Jonghyeon is a supernatural being.
Well, OK, no Jjong in this post but... (in Minho's voice) he's back!

2012 in Music
Some people say 2012 was a bad year in Kpop, others say it was better than 2011. I've seen better than both, but the problem doesn't lie in Kpop as the bubble, but in those who blow it. If big agencies don't change, Kpop as a total mayhem phenomenon won't change as well.
There were some good things in 2012 music and some bad things. Anything fresh and outstanding?

2012 in Kpop
From here |
Last year I prepared my first post summing up the whole 2011 in broadly perceived Kpop funky land. This time - 2012 in a perspective of one rarely serious idiot fangirl, that is me. Like it's any different from any other post >.>
What happened to Kpop Imaginarium this past year? Quite a lot, yet not everything on huge scale. And to calm down all shivering with antici...pation - "Oppa didn't mean it" is also here.
I didn't include all 6589 debuts of nugu groups and all comebacks because that would use up all my bandwidth (and next week).

K-entertainment Part 1
This is something I have been planning to do for some time. A weekend round-up of whatever weird, shocking or funny happened in K-industry. I don't plan to write it with something up my nice we-know-what, but in a fluffy way. I'm not a Debbie Downer, I'm not going to dissect everything with pessimistic suction.
Anyway, first post is having Heechul as the anchor pic because he's not here *a moment of silence to commemorate million ELFs hearts that just crumbled* and because he's Heechul, love him or hate him, but he's "unique".

Junsu blocked
Grass is green, water is wet, nothing new. So this is what his tweets were about... Now all becomes clear.
Which is kind of weird this comes from SBS, because I thought this is the broadcast that doesn't give a squirrel's tush about such issues. But maybe SBS drama and SBS music show department are different and at war. I dunno.Fans are praising Junsu for staying positive, but in all honesty and my loving him - was he left with any other choice? He has to stay positive to not go insane. That's all.
But I guess it's the new fad to cut out some best performances lately. Yeah, MBC, you better watch your back, cause I ain't gonna forgive!

6th Korean Musical Awards
Man, even such a weak musical like Zorro was mentioned. I watched some cuts and I read reviews, very lukewarm reviews. Official website doesn't co-operate with me (~so gooodbye don't cry aaand smiiile~), I can't present the full list of winners, since there is no show to watch. I know JTBC broadcasted it, but since normal people in Europe have work at the exact time, I'm waiting for some kind soul to upload the show somewhere.
The only thing that is certain - Kim Junsu won Popular Actor Award and Oh Manseok was the host :P

Junsu... not this time
Since both albums were released fairly close, I waited to combine both of them in one post. First thing first - where is my copy of Infinitize?? I need that!
Now, something more substantial. Oh, and just to warn everyone - I'm not going to bullcarp here.
On the second thought, I wrote more than I wanted, so two separated posts would do.

JYJ about recent situation
I'm not sure if it's they that should be apologizing right now. Oh, sorry for being famous and having to suffer because of sasaengs' mental problems. But well, in Korea they apologize for everything (having girlfriend ie.) so...
Good they did that though, and to all that stopped supporting JYJ basing on this issue - go to hell. And stay there.

‘JYJ assault controversy’… The media and Sasaeng fans’s violence?
From JYJ3:
“Jaejoong oppa, you’re taking a photograph now, right?”
Sasaeng fans were persistent and swift. Without a doubt, ‘sasaeng fans’ caught up with JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong during his interview with ‘Oh My Star’ last summer.
Sasaeng fans were persistent and swift. Without a doubt, ‘sasaeng fans’ caught up with JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong during his interview with ‘Oh My Star’ last summer.
That day, two females in their early 20s waited at the door of the
office anxiously and hired taxis to go after Kim Jaejoong’s car. In the
end, it disrupted his schedule. We were certain that his face hardened
for a while when he heard about the constant appearances of ‘sasaeng
fans’ who were unconcerned about the interview held in the news
organization.
K-pop singers and stalker fans
From JYJ3
MANILA, Philippines –
Just days before they were to do a concert in Peru and Chile, members of
boy band JYJ were swept into an issue involving the so-called
“sasaeng,” stalker fans who follow Korean stars 24/7, harass them and
invade their privacy.
News articles and audio files, which were
reportedly recorded by sasaeng people back in 2009 when the three were
still with boy band TVXQ, were uploaded on Korean websites alleging that
two JYJ members cursed and hit these “fans” out of exasperation of
being constantly stalked.
JYJ/TVXQ: Plagued By Sasaeng Fans
Translation of an article from JYJ3
After yesterday’s story about JYJ’s
sasaeng fans became a hot topic, sympathy towards JYJ from the fans and
public have been pouring in.
One fan even alerted Top News about pictures that have been taken over the years by Sasaeng fans.
Though media is to be unbiased and show
all sides of a situation, unilateral attacks against JYJ were made by a
“D media source” and aroused the anger of many fans.

2011 Kdrama OSTs
Bad thing is - there wasn't any OST that I would buy in a heartbeat. There were some nice songs that fitted the drama, yet nothing as spectacular and powerful as, let's say, Chuno OST or Revenge of Gumiho OST. Oh yes, 2010 was a good year for dramas. Maybe last year of some quality in main 3 broadcasts' productions.
But if I had to pick up the best score - it would be NToG and What's Up! But the second drama started in December and ended in February, so it's not entirely 2011 one.
