Short music news

I'm not doing a proper review. I never did. Lately I've been reading some books and articles on structure, anthropology and culture of popculture (focusing on music, damn I'm rhyming) so I know I'm not a proper critic. However I really like to talk about music, about what moved me, what didn't and why Jonghyeon is a supernatural being.
Well, OK, no Jjong in this post but... (in Minho's voice) he's back!

Music report

Since I like to share what I'm listening to, what I'm discovering in music, here comes another post about songs. Some of them are new, some of them not. Some of the songs I listen I love, yet some are left alone because I find them better than Teletubbies only. But I don't rave about them and don't listen to them.
There are some albums piling up (like Lydia's) that I have no time to listen properly, but once February starts, I will.

K-OSTs taxes

The taxes period is ending here. This is why I thought about writing a post highlighting some of the OSTs of the past 4 months. And again - it's personal, subjective and biased.
Music is a strange thing, even stranger than a picture. It may move us one second and leave cold at the different moment in our life. The same piece may bring memories to one person, and do nothing to another.
This is why I like some of the crappiest songs ever, and higly-esteemed blues singers leave me cold.

Immortal Song 2 special

For a moment show got relevant again. And next week - Jay Park, so I'll skip this one.
I have to say one thing - IS 2 did great to Wuhyeon (not his health, I bet), he is more confident on stage, and sings with broader range now. Comparing to his first performance when his mic was shaking, damn, that's a huge improvement.
I can sleep safe about his musical.

Ali's confession

Recent song by Ali has stirred up the public opinion, otherwise known as netizens.
She wrote a song about a rape victim, being herself one. And now she is forced to remove the song from album just because as the title she used the victim's name "Nayoung".
There are many songs with people's names as titles, "Maria", "Susannah", "Johnny B Goode", "Billie Jean", "Frankie and Johnny", or infamous "Pink Noise (Rock Me Amadeus) mehehe, just to name the few out of dozens that come to my mind right now.
Maybe it was a bit risky to use it, especially in Korea, but I still can't fathom the fuss around it.
Very disturbing story follows, so enter on your own risk.

Immortal Song 2 - report

And so I was yesterday, watching IS 2 as usual, getting all giggly for Wuhyeon's appearance and the song put me in a swingy good mood when... damn me, a wild Dongwu appeared and ruined the mood. I mean ruined in a good way, in a great way. Those who follow DA's thread know I have special feelings for this crazy boy, so seeing him there just made me all fluffy and happy.
The winner was Hong Kyeongmin, who did a rather interesting yet risky version of the song. And don't get me wrong, I really do think he or Ali should take the crown, but I think he should just stop with multi-intrumentalism. We all know he can play. But he ain't no Mike Oldfield, his main weapon is his voice and many, many years in the business.
Heo Gak was also good, but this time the victory was snatched from him, yet he finished second.
