2011 Kdrama OSTs

Bad thing is - there wasn't any OST that I would buy in a heartbeat. There were some nice songs that fitted the drama, yet nothing as spectacular and powerful as, let's say, Chuno OST or Revenge of Gumiho OST. Oh yes, 2010 was a good year for dramas. Maybe last year of some quality in main 3 broadcasts' productions.
But if I had to pick up the best score - it would be NToG and What's Up! But the second drama started in December and ended in February, so it's not entirely 2011 one.

Idiot Baek Dongsu

Eh, happy first 4 episodes, I shall treasure you^^

It's the first time I dropped a sageuk. I never did that before, I mustered all my willpower in the past and somehow went through all idiocies that always appear in this kind of drama. The Princess' Man and Deep-rooted Tree now set the bar for period dramas really high lately.
Dongsu disappointed me for the first time when they saved Prince Sado and made him killed by assassins and not from starving in a rice box. I was not pleased by such distortion, but found my leniency and forgave that.
But just when I thought they would go with their logic of killing off characters - they made a move that enraged everyone in the Western world.

August dramas

Right now I'm stuck with 6 dramas, and I pray some of them should end before September hits. Not the one that started last Saturday. It is scheduled for 50 episodes (kyaaing with happiness), but some will probably end. I have no eyes and time for more, to be honest, and there are some older ones I'd like to watch as well.
Not that anyone should care what I think about this-and-this drama, but since I started to do such short reviews and explaining why I'm watching, I decided to write again. As all reviews, be it mine or anyone else's, it is subjective. Highly subjective. Sometimes it's my personal whim why I start some dramas, sometimes plot interests me, and sometimes the names. Yes, I do watch dramas for names.

Idiot Baek Dongsu

Oh well, I love this drama. Love it to bits. As every production it has flaws, but I'm a forgiving person as long as something keeps me entertained. I even love moron, cocky, king-of-the-world Dongsu. His attitude is damn amusing.
This scene proves that korean period clothes don't have any competition. Sorry, kimono fans, but the way how it dances around the body, or the way how it swims down the body...
Anyway, I made a cut of the fight scene by the end of ep 8. Vibrant blue colors, green trees around, and light sand make this scene beautiful. Not to mention the clothes that flow in the air.
Oh my gods...

Prince Sado

OK, so I'm a little bit confused with the drama Warrior Baek Dongsu. I mean, I have problems with clash between description and reality of the drama. In overall, it is lovely, but I have problems with pinning the time of events. And this drives me nuts. From the synopsis we got: Set in the Joseon Dynasty during King Jeongjo’s reign, this martial-arts fusion sageuk is centered around the events involving Crown Prince Sado’s conspiracy. Warrior Baek Dong Soo was a real-life legend who created a martial arts guide in Joseon. His group who defends King Jeongjo is pitted against a mysterious organization of assassins who plot to kill the King.

Warrior Baek Dongsu

I'm after only two episodes (too much drama to watch, and other stuff, no time!), but after rough start with me in episode 1, episode 2 convinced me. There is a lot more fight scenes in here comparing to other sageuk, so if you don't like it, that might be a slight hindrance in immersing into the story. There is a lot of familiar faces, and huge score - typical for fusion sageuks: rock, orchestra and a great, powerful song by BMK.

Basic info:

Plot:

I dropped The Duo because of Cheon Jeongmyeong who was a complete miscast in here, and if I can't connect to one of the actors (especially main ones) watching of the show becomes a nightmare. So this is my first sageuk since... oh, SKKS. Hope there won't be any mistakes like this one.
Anyway, back to Baek Dongsu, I noticed funny fact how they changed the titles. Previously it had "honorable" in it, now we are left with "warrior" only. I guess writers concluded that in dark times, to be a good and loyal warrior excludes being honorable in a certain way.
