Alien Sector 7

   A movie about a group of people in a closed environment fighting with some monster. No, not Alien this time. But the concept looks dangerously close. 

It's about a group of people... oh wait, I wrote that. One more time - it's about a mutated monster (because plain monster is so passé!) and people trying to survive its murderous insticts/appetite/failed-try-at-relationship. They are all trapped on an oil platform. I bet lightning strikes the tower and they will be out of electricity and phones.

I'm all for it. I hate movies in 3D, because as for me, they just cover up the flaws in script and/or directing. But I will watch this one when it's out. First reason? Ahn Seonggi. Second reason? Bloodbath.

And I can almost name the characters that will be dying one by one. The woman, played by Ha Jiwon will survive. As Ripley did.

The other lady, clean scientist, will probably die, just because she is the total opposite of the protagonist. Any comic relief will die too shooting out his last round of ammo, screaming: "Oh, come on, motherf*ck...! I don't have all day!!"... or something to this sort. Or maybe not, they ain't space marines after all.

Ahn Sungki and Kim Namgil

   This is the right order. Because, no matter how much I admire the latter, the former is just bigger. More experienced. Pictures come from 29th Blue Dragon Film Festival that was held 2008.11.20. So yes, they are not new, but I rarely seen them on non-Korean or non-Japanese websites. I don't read swahili, so can't say much on those. The fact that they entered the red carpet together and stood there, the fact that Mr. Ahn speaks so highly on Namgil-nim, it all warms my heart more than any even the most beautiful picture of our encamped Mr. Kim.

JJY in EW Ep 1327

I officially died and went to heaven. But then I came back, and my evil plan of seizing either JJY or KNG is 10% complete. Muahahahaaaa, ekhee, ekhe! I was watching Entertainment Weekly Episode 1327 (they have a new host since few episodes back, guess who: Shin Hyun Joon!! He's great in in. But back to the story, I was watching and then I saw the face of Ahn Sung Gi, and I was like: WAIT A MINUTE... then I saw JJY. As always he was backing off to allow others to speak (better if he's the only one in the interview), my fangirling just took over and I was extremely happy.

My TOP 10 Period Movies

As stated this list is subjective, biased, and totally unreliable. Ever since I have liked period movies, you know, Three Musketeers, Dangerous Beauty, Ivanhoe, everything that was set before 1789 in Europe. So, naturally, I came to Asian ones. For now, Chinese are way too epic, too long, too...well, epic, as for my small taste. But I have nothing against long Korean ones. Especially with the filtre they use. I just love that all colors are so vibrant, so vivid. It depends of course on the movie, but the using of colors in Korean cinema is another topic. This also applies to the Japanese cinema as well (the random movie I can think about is Border Line, i.e.). I have nothing against the BW movies though. I will not include dramas, because there are only two that captured my head/heart* (* scratch what doesn't sound right): Chuno and Queen Seonduk, and those two are sageuk, taeha, historical dramas. And yes, I have nothing better to do today.

Jeong Jae Young - Filmography

The previous entry on JJY movies ends with Wedding Campaign, that depicts his character as mildly mannered (slightly behind normal speed, I would say^^) man going on the continent in order to find wife.

My Captain Mr. Underground (마이 캡틴, 김대출) is a very warm, yet moving film about small grave robber who comes across children as twisted as himself. The strange bond forms. He tells them that he is a special agent from Ministry of National Treasures, and they form a family-like relationship as a series of mishaps continues. I didn't expect the ending like this, but it was the only one possible, I guess. The scene in rain almost at the end is so powerful and emotional.
