Seoul Drama Awards - OST Awards
From June 29th to July 20th, the Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee (SDAOC) will be open to vote for the most popular drama OST of the dramas between April 1st and April 30th. Bad news is - you need to have an account on cyworld, or I didn't quite figure out how to cheat.
And my usual rant - someplace I saw they nominated IU? Well, who da hell is IU when Queen Seondeok OST had Hong Kwangho??

The Princess Man - pics and stuff
Looks like this drama joined the elite club of dramas with most lavish and pricey costumes along with Gung and Queen Seondeok (yes, I wanted to rip that deep violet Mishil's dress and hide somewhere, and then wear it. I wanted to rip off Bidam's clothes too, but with other use in mind, ekhem...). But true, I'd like to rip them off... and... and... Ah that was a bad idea to even start on this rant. 12.50 am, few drinks, great evening, and I mean... Oh, and the trailer. Yes, the trailer...
Oh, and I bet Park Shihu comes to set on time, Lee Sunjae may rest assured, he's a serious one, keke (since both of gentlemen are in this drama, heh)

Gyebaek - first interview
From this interview I have the sense more of taeha than sageuk, but I do hope it won't be the former. I mean, I don't mind it, but sageuk is more watchable anyway. Don't get me wrong, I loved Yi San and QSD, but recently Dong Yi, Gwanggaeto and Geunchogo disappointed me a bit, and sageuk are getting better and better. And I'm soooo heppey to see Mr. Ahn Kilgang in this one, oh my! What a happy day!

Why yes, I'm on some posting spree, why you ask? Iz dat bad? (note to self: too much canIhascheezburger, way too much). I couldn't care less if CH follows tha manga or doesn't, phy!
First - I love the drama as it is, so all complaints of those who read it mean absolutely nothing to me. Second - I didn't read it, because the graphic of the manga was bad, and I didn't like it. I don't read anything I don't like, simply as it is. So just read it "because it's a MANGA" and I know "oh few kanji" seems as an extremely stupid idea for me. Of course, this may seem heretical, but even when I had my own "Japan wave period", I didn't swallow every crap because it had "Japan" on it. Some of my friends did, and they suffered from indigestion.
Anyway, City Hunter is epic. Perfectly shot, great acting, intriguing characters and music, sometimes solemn, sometimes cheerful, and sometimes Jonghyeon... oops...
W & Whale!! And some others...
I love the band, and I like the new song that was featured as OST for the upcoming horror 고양이 - "Cat".
Individualism Taking Root in Korea
The strength of personal networks based on regional and school ties, which traditionally lie at the core of the Korean way of building relationships, is dwindling, according to recent surveys that suggest individualism is on the rise in Korean society.
According to a nationwide poll carried out by LG Economic Research Institute on 1,800 people on June 13, 36.4 percent of the respondents prioritized the individual over the organization. Roughly the same amount, or 36.8 percent, did not agree that actions undertaken for the public good should limit or infringe upon their own rights.
Such a shift in perspective is even more evident among university students. It is not uncommon to see students eating alone at university cafeterias, and there seems to be a growing trend to befriend less people in the same department or academic year.
"There are more advantages to eating alone, as you can save money and time," said one 22-year-old student, voicing the new me-first ethos of the younger generation.
In a poll of 528 university students by job search portal Incruit last year, 34.5 percent considered themselves as "outsiders" who rarely socialize with their classmates or friends.

A free trade pact between the European Union and South Korea, the first such deal linking Asia and the world's largest economic bloc, came into effect on Friday, bringing with it sweeping changes.
The deal will eventually do away with 98.7 percent of duties and is expected to boost trade by tens of billions of euros a year, slash more than two billion euros in tariffs annually and create an estimated 250,000 jobs in South Korea.
The Wall Street Journal quoted EU trade commissioner Karel De Gucht as describing the pact as "the most ambitious trade deal ever concluded by the EU and should become a game-changer for our trade relations with Asia".
On the eve of its implementation, the EU's ambassador in Seoul Tomasz Kozlowski told journalists that the FTA was a "win-win" agreement and would be a model for other deals that the bloc is negotiating in the region.
The 27-nation European Union, home to 500 million people, is currently negotiating similar pacts with Japan, Asia's second largest economy, and India.
Apart from multiplying the flow of goods and services, the agreement would "boost exchange of ideas, exchange of people and culture, and ultimately will bring Korea and the EU much closer", Kozlowski said.

Claiming to be humane action film, Countdown has chosen financial fraud as its subject, an unusual choice for a Korean film. Albeit a dark crime movie, its humane side is hidden in the ending. The movie talks of coexistence and betrayal of a couple, using each other for the sole target ‘money’. The twist where the two go on the verge of their lives that comes in the end will surely be an impressive point of the film.
The new side of JEON Do-youn, winner of the Best Actress Awards at 2007 Cannes Film Festival for her performance in Secret Sunshine , stands out. She tries to move away from her image as an art film actress that became concrete since Secret Sunshine . While acting as a beautiful fraud who’s full of lies, she also shows off her femme fatale features. JUNG Jae-young who was awarded Best Actor from Blue Dragon Awards last year for Moss reveals a cold yet kind side of him. The two actors had collaborated in RYOO Seung-wan’s 2002 action film No Blood, No tears , getting back together on screen after 9 years. No Blood, No tears and Countdown share the similarities of being a crime film. Meanwhile Countdown is a film company Bom’s comeback piece in genre film after its heydays of the early millennium.
Much is expected of Countdown , as a work of producer OH Jeongwan, returning to a popular genre film once again unveiling her senses and perseverance. With investment and distribution by Sidus FNH, the shooting will finish up in early May and be premiered in the Fall.
