This will not be the usual review, because - honestly - I don't want to go through this trauma again just to write in-depth post. This is rather posted to bring eyes to this movie, in the light of the most recent, tragic events regarding the abuse and death of one little Jeongin.

[Advent Drama Calendar 2020] Day 1: Which drama was your favorite of the year?
Again this year I am participating in the wonderful project created by Luthien (big thank YOU for your questions). This is a great way to reflect back on the year of watched dramas.

[Drama Review] Hymn of Death (사의 찬미)
With any tv production or a movie based on real people and real events there comes one unpleasant twist - the stories make us wish the history could have been different. We tend to wish a different outcome. I remember I wished, against the reason and all my historical knowledge, the final of Gyebaek would be different, despite knowing all too well the brave general would die. Hymn of Death also deals with real, historical figures, and yet does it in such a tepid manner that I really didn't care whether they die or live.

Upcoming series
For few past months, I really had no time to commit to a series and I'm not confident the next months will be any different. However, since the US series adopted a new format (or at least some of them), that is shorter seasons, there is few that I'm anticipating.
And in case anyone wonders why I don't post anything on Korean series - well, I'm waiting for something to watch and not question my poor taste every goddamn 5 minutes. I really wanted to watch Descendants of the Sun, because I'm easily sold on military stuff, but not even uniforms could keep me interested. It would be so much better if they just concentrated on the army presence in this fictional country, without silly and preposterous romance shit. Or just changed the script, like 100%.
I have nothing against romance, no, but make it a part of the plot and not the whole plot itself. Kdramas lately remind me of the idea of building the city on the scorched desert. Instead of building wells and pipes first, they start to build a huge super-high-technology-smart mall with brand stores. This is their love story they organize the entire plot around. Who cares if the city they built so quickly will forever remain a barren, ghost city?

Upcoming/returning series I am waiting for are listed below. So far, I gathered only those that start in the first half of 2016.

And Then There Were None
Since
the miniseries was really mini (3 episodes), I decided to watch this.
Especially that it was packed with known names, some of which I even
like.
The
series is based on Agatha Christie's one of the most famous novels
under the same title. The title itself was changed, as it was deemed to
be offensive. Also, the poem and the island's name were also changed (to "ten Little Soldiers" and Soldier Island respectively).
I
read people were wailing about the ending not being exactly as it was
in the book, but sometimes what works for the literary world, doesn't
translate well in other medium.
At least, they didn't run into the sunset together.

Kpop haz it
| Picture from here |
The first half of 2012 had its share of scandals and rumors and bad things that were going around (JYJ controversy), but second half of 2012 started with a bang. We all know K-entertainment is a place where even Rambo would have difficulties to survive, and every now and then we are bombarded with news related to this-and-this group or singer. Oh, 2012 is a good year.
Better people than me wrote about the latest T-drama, and since I don't even listen to them or follow them, I was watching the unfolding series from the sideways.

Kim Soo-hyun’s win is hotly debated
I don't feel as such a b*tch for complaining and whining about this boy's winning now. The fact he didn't deserve it is not only my and few friends of mine bitter remark, but it looks like others are not the happiest with that too.
First, I dropped Moon That Embarrasses the Sun when kid actors left. If they wanted to give an award to anyone out of MoonSun, they should have given it to Yeo Jingu (but I'm jailbait-y biased). The story was lackluster and it was drifting in a really boring direction, but Korean audience loved it. And whatever Korean audience (40+ ajummas) loves - it wins.

Seoul Drama Awards - OST Awards
From June 29th to July 20th, the Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee (SDAOC) will be open to vote for the most popular drama OST of the dramas between April 1st and April 30th. Bad news is - you need to have an account on cyworld, or I didn't quite figure out how to cheat.
And my usual rant - someplace I saw they nominated IU? Well, who da hell is IU when Queen Seondeok OST had Hong Kwangho??

Also, there are 40 nominees, so forgive me I didn't romanized them all here. I'm lazy, yes.
Update: in my last comment I romanized all the remaining dramas.
