2011 Mnet 20's Choice Awards

This "20's" in the awards' name slightly puts me off, but anyway.
I'll try and romanize all from the official cyworld website^^
There are 20 categories, and the voting was possible until July 6th, the ceremony was hosted by teh cutie aka Song Junggi, keke.
Oh, and no "you know who" in S-Line category awards. Oh, probably he's crying right now in a pool of eels.

Who Likes Flowers?

I've been hovering over this topic for over a month now. We had this conversation on DA or msn not once, and after some time devoted to digesting all horrible pics and news, I decided to write what's on my mind.
Of course, some will just disagree for the sake of disagreeing, some will curse me for eternity, but I hope some just nod silently. It might not be a big deal, considering how wide K-entertainment is, but some issues keep bugging me and when I'm irritated I start to develop an anger. This is why I procrastinated. I didn't want to write in the heat of things, because it might happen I couldn't control my harshness. Now, since I'm preoccupied with usual, mundane work, I can look at the problem with a cool heart (oh, can you? Really??).
My problem? My problem is this beauty obsession in Korea. I have nothing against someone being beautiful, but we should draw a line between "famous because of the beauty" and "famous because of the talent". Talent and beauty are seldom walking together. Of course, entertainers are bound to look attractive and stand out against normal people, I understand that they are also working with their bodies. But putting the physical appearance on the worshipped altar of "popularity" is complete nonsense as for me.
I guess everyone knows the term "kkotminam" (꽃미남).

Winter-end dramas

Even though I'm pretty busy with my current time-consumming drama (Queen of Reversals), I'm looking forward to some other dramas that start in February or March. I may also check the MBC project featuring Park Yuhwan, but still, my eyes belong to his hyeong^^.
It's been a year since we first heard the news about the Kimi wa petto Korean project, and I remember I was expecting this. I loved the japanese drama from the first sight (still do, as the rest of jdramas, that is 2 more, keke), and had slight doubts that movie remake wouldn't be as good. And then we witnessed what we witnessed. We were cursed, we were screamed at, we were hated over on DA, but slowly, slowly we started to feel that our attention has been screwed all over. Yes, I used bad word. Yes, I may offended someone by using it. But there is no word describing what we felt in any human or animal languages known to the world. We felt exactly like that. I want my time I spent on watching some bad movies/dramas/interviews, I want it back!!
That's why I'm cautious now.
But, back to the topic, I'm waiting for few dramas now.
1. New Tales of Gisaeng
2. Midas
3. City Hunter
4. Paradise Ranch
5. The Duo

Press Conference Fashion

I'm in a bitchy mood today, so I decided to relax myself a bit by writing here. There are days like this, not particular bad as for weather, but somehow, in the course of hours my mood can plummet faster than a shooting star. It just happens, have no idea why, and nothing can cheer me. And because I have refrained from commenting on leopard print on jackets, I tried to get rid of the images that Aility gave me and they caused me nauseous ever since that day. But, I guess unless I speak about it, I will not get my peace back. And I need it to finish few articles. My personal, subjective, biased opinion, you don't need to give a damn on this one.
I can handle the weird fashion, really. I've never had any problems watching this. On the catwalk. Or in the movies. Really, after seeing Velvet Goldmine and Terry Gilliam stuff nothing can surprise me. I understand wacky outfits for some photoshoots. Why? Because they are part of the concept for it. The person who is responsible for a photoshoot talks with the stylist and they come up with the right image. A model or actor who models for it has little to say. He lends his personality, body and face to it and nothing more. So I don't care for that. I couldn't be more indifferent to it.
But when the actor is caught while attending some event, like movie premiere (not his/her, just a visitor in the theatre), dressed in some strange combinations even Stevie Wonder wouldn't choose, there is this alarm that goes off deep in my head. (btw. I love Stevie Wonder, jokes aside).

Few news

Here, because I have no idea where to put those on D-A. Looks like I just love to ramble. But I was wandering here and there, so I read few interesting facts. I forgot to mention one funny thing that was on Section TV this weekend. Actress Ha Jiwon told the reporter that she is a nagging sister to Jeon Taesu (he plays our all-time favorite Blinky, ekhem, Ha Insu in SKKS). She blurted out that as an actor he has a lot work to do ahead of him. Oh, please, he started to blink and to smile even, he's not that bad! He's better than The Carp and The Table plus few dozens of others combined. She said that it's for his own good, and she wants to see him improve (or something, can't remember clearly , source: Nate)
Another news, Lee Minho said that "10 year age difference is not that important" in an interview. The settings of the interview reminded me of another rabid... ekhem Rabbit Year-born star - JKS's interview. But the air is totally different this time. Granted, Lee Minho is just at the beginning of his career, he's sometimes not that good, and, the same like Jeon Taesu above, needs to work hard, but it looks like he's willing to do that.

Public Enemy Returns

I'm very disturbed little girl, I know that.
I have always liked movies about gangsters, with fights, violence and not too much women in them. Public Enemy Returns is an ideal one for that point. To be well informed about the main protagonist, the police detective, I watched two first movies, but somehow, as for me, shallow girl, they didn't mean much. The third part is better.
The pace is a bit slow, it's maybe not too dynamic, but I don't mind. Sometimes it's not the tempo that counts.

Asian Fashion

Hm, don't get me wrong, I admire the boldness of Asian fashion (Japanese and Korean, I know nothing on Chinese one, sorry), but the latest trends especially in men's clothes just make me wonder: who are they designed for? And it seems everyone in Asia follows the same trend.
First, the lightest matter: pants above the ankle. Actually if a guy has long legs, it just looks good on them, but short people look shorter. At first I saw it in Personal taste. Every young character was wearing those. It started to grow on me, especially when I saw it on LMH's legs. Then I saw pictures from the press conference for Bad Guy, and I was like, Oh My Gods of Blood and Lust!  don't really care how KNG dresses. But I guess it was just one-time accident. He usually dresses with much taste (wait, few minutes for fangirling*_*). OK, I'm back to my senses.
Short pants are not the worst what can happen.
Tight pants are much, much worse, and from what I read in GQ Japan, this season, again, skinny men's pants... Brr... I believe I will see some guys sporting them this summer. As it was said once on Robert Plant's pants: "you could tell his religion" while he was wearing those. Exactly.
Apart from pants, shirts: tight shirts are OK under one condition - guy has to be lanky. We got this over.
The other kind of shirts: V-necks...

Personal Taste - It tastes like hell

Well, only under that condition that hell can be classified as having  some taste. What happened to nice, well paced, full of good humor drama? Nothing, it got a twist which is called: an abnormal Jin Ho's mother. She's crazy. No, actually she's cuckoo. What's more sad, Jin Ho really loves her and cares for her, but now he's between love for his mother and love for Gae In. I hope he will choose the latter.
What a melodramatic and low turn for that supposedly stylish woman to feign fainting. Besides, she shouldn't have listen to In Hee, is she not aware In Hee is a real b*tchy B*ITCH? I have seen such a character a long time ago for the last time - where? Let me think, who was the last b*tch?

Personal Taste - I know how it tastes like^^

Episode 12 ended with a huge cliffhanger. I would like to sleep until Wednesday, because anticipation will most likely drain me.
It's not like this drama is perfect. It's not, it has many flaws, but they are in a rush, that is why I can forgive some (editing). Directing is kind of Ron Howard-like, I mean a bit heavy in some moments. But overall - I have such a great time watching it! Lee Min Ho is just perfect.
With lots of humour, this drama touches the topics that are not so funny at all. I mean, in every episode, "gay" Jin Ho is being insulted and treated as "half-man". This shows how a society really treats "personal preference". And one of the greatest characters in the drama - director Choi is a real gay, but hidden. It's not so easy to confess in a society that crushes everything that is ifferent. I'm under deep impression how his character was created and showed to us. It's all thanks to Ryu Seung Ryong, who is a great actor.

Personal Taste - how does it taste like?

Like love.
OK. I will write more tomorrow after the third episode, but as for now, I'm delighted. I had so much laugh, as I predicted. But the preview lied, at first Jin Ho didn't lie about being gay. He was actually framed.
I hope they will keep up the good pace and humor. Son ye Jin is great as just plain, normal girl, maybe not stunningly beautiful, but natural. I like her in this drama.

Personal Preference and Wagaya no Rekishi

These dramas are my most anticipated so far. I've known about Personal Preference for two months now, and Wagaya no Rekishi for a month. Still, as the first one is a comedy/romance genre, it doesn't concern me that much, although I waited to see Lee Min Ho in something new. Yes, yes, I mentioned it earlier, no BOF fan here^^.
Wagaya no Rekishi is more serious that is why I don't compare them. Some people commit this mistake, and are ready to fight to the death for their reasons.
It's useless.
Why? Simply because we don't compare steak with Sacher cake, although both things are food. One is a serious meal, the other one is a dessert.
