Work and family dramas

I avoided long, family dramas for some time, and when I gave one a shot, now I'm lost completely. There is  a totally different feel to those stories, usually long ones, over 30 episodes. I'm talking about primetime week/weekend dramas, not about those who air daily. I like the pace of those stories, so even though there are heart-wrenching moments and cliffhangers, it's not as condensed as in the regular 16-episodes shows (QoR is an exception - I will probably see few grey hairs next Tuesday on my stupid head). The first such drama that made me got glued to the screen was Life is Beautiful. Along with this one I watched Assorted Jewels. And now I can't stop.
I like how traditions and customs are shown in such dramas, like funeral ceremonies, marriage or different rites. For me it's like watching some kind of para-documentary on customs. Moreover, I like how they touch normal, everyday things, like marriage, work, friendship, changing of a person.

2010 - R.I.P.

I think I should do this beforehand, but somehow it wasn't my first thought few days ago. 2010 ended, and I'm glad. Months after March were bad and deteriorated quickly. Maybe it's because I'm getting older and bitter? I'm alive and I should be grateful for that, but partly I'm grateful to myself, because I toned down my reckless behavior, and started to, at least, act cautious every few days.
I'm grateful for few beautiful souls out there I was given to meet. For all my Thorns and Queens of Lus... Luscious Words. I'm happy I spent so much time on many, many topics with them. That kept me sane, in a way.
As for other things: career-wise and interest-wise. My so called "research career" got accelerated. I went to few (ok, so far 2) conferences and it was nice. This year will be even busier, I can see it even now.
I started to blog. I remember myself saying that blogging is a stripping, an exhibitionistic behavior, but somehow I figured that one doesn't have to write about personal feelings and poison the world with another Weltschmerz. Stating the opinion is completely different than writing about "oh how world does hate me and I have no reason to live". So do it and stop whining, I'd say!
And I'm happy few people found this blog useful. To all readers - thank you and stay tuned^^
Drama-wise...

2010 10Asia's Awards: SKKS and Chuno

Remember the table I had so much troubles to fit all letters there?
No? That's ok.
And because I love 10Asia, an article from their website.
Articles on: drama, director, actor, writer and "Thank You" list. There was also "No, Thank You" list, but I don't see it somehow, keke...

Chuno - the best drama of 2010

Weeeell... let me get things straight: no. I mean, it is a great drama, I didn't have any nails back then, I watched it 3 times... OK, maybe it is. But there were some things that bugged me back then and I can't still get over them. Like Lee Dahae. I don't like her. I don't find her stunningly pretty even. He's a doll. Moving, talking doll. I didn't connect to her. And, as you probably know, when there is no click between me and the character, there is no spark.
I found an article on Daum (from December 15, heh).

Life Is Beautiful - end (?) of the story

Not my article, I just found it and want to report. While reading this, I had still in mind the over-excited tone of a one article on Mary... from few days before. Well, before this mess of a drama started to air.

Life Is Beautiful-gate part ...

This is the lady that created all this hell out there. The screenwriter, the beautiful mind, versatile tongue and imagination transcending the narrow and bordered horizons of others. This lady, Kim Suhyeon, wrote on 23rd that she felt as if SBS smashed her face with a wet rag. The reason? Oh, the reason is always the same, ever since few months: a couple. The scene in the episode that was aired was supposed to include Taeseob and Keongsu scene where they seal their confession in the church attending the wedding ceremony of Hoseob. Their scene was cut.
Apparently the people of the church on Jejudo where the scene was filmed filled the complains against showing the scene. Kim Suhyeon explained that she has no idea why and was enraged by the outcome.
But there is one funny fact. Actually the broadcast station wanted to air the episode the way it was written, but after such complaints, bosses changed their minds. I mean, are they really that soft? Complaints of some hypocrits against a huge base of approving voices? Where is the logic in it? Why did they yield? In fear of losing the viewers on Jejudo? Hell, everyone knows SBS is not my favorite station, but LIB was the last hope I had for them. I kind of admired them that despite all the flames of fury, idiotic Mothers Union ads and all, they can withstand all this.

Life Is Beautiful-gate part xx

The whole article mainly focuses on Hong Seokcheon's appearance in the latest Strong Heart, when he thanked the writer of the drama for putting such big effort in portraying a very complicated family relations. He also added that this drama gave courage to few people to ome out.

More about Life Is Beautiful

Just want to present the interview from August with Song Chang-ee.

New Movies

First, I read an interesting article on KBS Global (my morning dosage of website started) about the change in popularity of some movies. Because the trend that it is a star in it that attracts the audience seems to be waning. Now, the viewers became more picky and base their choices on plot rather than on the celebrity. Good sign, because sometimes movies with "big names" (ah, daemul comes to mind, hehe) are just flops. You can read the whole article here.
Two new movies with no certain release date however.

Life Is Beautiful-gate

It seems there are more ripples to that than everyone could imagine. Being bold enough means you have to face the blind bashing and unreasonable bias.
And no, sorry, I will not stop to report on this ridiculously blown up problem. Because it's only the mentally deranged people that make the big problem out of this. For usual, a little educated people there is no problem at all. There is a transparent screen, just an air.
