2012 in Music

Some people say 2012 was a bad year in Kpop, others say it was better than 2011. I've seen better than both, but the problem doesn't lie in Kpop as the bubble, but in those who blow it. If big agencies don't change, Kpop as a total mayhem phenomenon won't change as well.
There were some good things in 2012 music and some bad things. Anything fresh and outstanding?

"Double, double toil and trouble;

Manekineko wishes you all good year and invites you to cray cray world^^
... Fire burn and cauldron bubble."

A post totally made for fun and with fun (or frustrations, whatever). While I'm slowly trudging through award shows (12 parts to dl and watch), I prepared this for all of you to have fun.
There are "prediction posts" everywhere, in K-entertainment too, so to entertain ourselves, let's make predictions for year 2013.
What are your predictions? Free your mind, and the rest will follow^^

MAMA's good to you!

On Friday, in-between classes, I managed to watch MAMA show, and fortunately for me, I caught some nice ones.

K-entertainment part 4

source

Nothing major happened. I'm kind of busy, so I barely have time to bitch blog about anything. With all what is happening in real life, I adopted new attitude to everything that surrounds me: fuckit happy-go-lucky. And with that upbeat mood, I present you 4th installment of news roundup regarding our lovely kindergarden that is K-entertainment with me as the Marry Poppins from hell.

Weapon of mass destruction

In the previous post I gave links to 3 funny fancams. Two are of SuJu's and one BB's. And one doesn't have to be a sociologist to predict a shitstorm that followed the last one, mostly so-called "clash of cultures". Let me just explain myself. I do believe in this clash of cultures, it happened in 19th century when white man came to Pacific islanders who never saw any other people than themselves. I believe in clash of cultures in the middle of 20th century, when the whole world was recovering from WWII and Cold War started shattering old alliances and forming new ones. But I hardly believe in clash of cultures in 2012.

2011 in Kpop^^

Picture from here.
“It's best to be ruthless with the past.”
(Stephen King, Rose Madder)

I wanted to write this much earlier, but somehow other things came in a way and I postponed this until now. This is a very biased, very personal take on 2011 in Kpop, so don't throw any stones for missing this-or-this group out of those 2526545 that debuted last year. Except for 2NE1 I don't listen to girls' groups (and even 2NE1 I listen when I want to 'shake that thing' only), so lack of them here is justified, right?
Oh yes, your all-time favorite category "Oppa Didn't Mean It" is also here.
Especially for one special friend out there^^

Ranking singing abilities

Are your favorites here? Mine are, except for few, but I can forgive, they debuted last year. And cat is out of the bag. But Taemin being on that list and WuGyu duo not? That just makes me chuckle.
I agree on Junsu, he wins in every ranking and he wins because he earns it. No problem. But Taeyang? Pleeze, don't let me start (TOP should be here too).
I might be deaf, but Niel being higher than Key makes me uneasy. The same goes for Yoseob, just don't see what others see. And Yonghwa. That's all. And since when Kyuhyun is better than Wookie? (eh, Ryewook, forever ignored).
Plus, you know, I love Yucheon, but really?
Plus, as I read on boards, list may be fake, so I just disregard it.

Big Bang made baang! in Europe

I'll be frank - I voted every day and I'm not even a fan. I did that for Kpop.
I'm happy they won, it's like we are witnessing maybe some part of history? I don't know. Happy to see Daesung's smiling. That's all that is relevant. Because "Tonight" as a song is bad, Dae's part in it is good. Bias? Me? Neva.
TOP's outfit was just pure eyesore though.

Lotte Creepy Duty Free

Uhmm... I was thinking really long (about 4.53 minutes) whether I should even bother and post it here. After reading few comments, I decided I should. Because for some time I was really quiet about some idio... I mean, an artist.
Pikchurs like pikchurs... some are creepy, some are so-so, all of them awkward. But some prove that bad taste knows no boundaries.
Too bad no real kitty in JYJ pics...

Music Video

I have always liked music videos. That is why I was such a sucker for some clips back in my.. erm... younger days. I never had any cable TV, no computer but I had two, maybe three music shows on TV (2 movie shows as well), so I watched it every time. I could fake illness just to stay home and watch it. Maybe it's because I like stories and movies I developed some liking for film-like MV. I like when it has a storyline. I like when professional actors appear in it. It's really hard in Europe, because actors think they are gift from gods and MV is below their  semi-divine nature. Bullsh*t, my dear Artists, you're just self-absorbed egoists with your egos bigger than our Galaxy. (Meanwhile... in the Galaxy far away, Palpatine still looks wrinkled bad, and Luke still is this retared farmboy...)
That is why discovering Korean entertainment came like heavensent.
First: they are not afraid to experiment. Second: they have actors who appear in MV and turn it into the masterpiece. Peggy from DA pointed me to some video that was even released on DVD, it's almost 30 minutes long, it's practically a short movie itself. There are shorts shorter than this.
Do I have some fears about hmm... short things?? Nah...
